Hey everyone! The upcoming blog posts will be related to each other in one form or the other. These posts will allow you to gain a greater understanding of the different treatments used at KA Fitness & Therapy. They will provide you with the basic knowledge you may want to know before experiencing a specific therapy treatment.

What is Sports Massage?
Sports massage for me consists of a combination of light and deep stroking techniques as well as other therapy skills to help aid in the breakdown of soft tissue of muscles, ligaments, tendons or fascia.
How is Sports Massage Used?
KA Fitness & Therapy uses sports massage techniques to release general tightness, aches or pains of the muscles, to help prevent injury, prepare the body for activity and to maintain general health. Sports massage is also applied to help individuals with recovery after activity or if they are injured as this improves blood flow circulation to and from the muscles, and increased removal of waste products. Furthermore, applying sports massage to assist clients who need their muscles stimulated prior to activity, event or competition. This has been proven to be beneficial to boost individual performance but has to be administered suitably.
At KA Fitness & Therapy, primarily using sports massage together with soft tissue therapy is found to be more effective and beneficial because each individual should receive a different treatment approach that is appropriate for managing their problem. A set duration may be used for solving individual needs, for example applying a sports massage treatment for 5-10 minutes when focusing on a pre-event warm-up for an athlete is found to be more relevant because it helps in activation of the muscles.
Who can have a Sports Massage?
Anyone can receive a sports massage treatment, whether you are a gym or sports athlete, a part of the general population or a part of the elderly community, you can experience a sports massage treatment. Why I say this is because you may have a problem which can only be rehabilitated by the aid of a sports massage treatment, with that said a one off treatment may be needed but if a problem is reoccurring multiple treatments will be necessary.
Why experience a Sports Massage?
Sports massage can provide individuals with great physical and psychological benefits which will be covered in another blog of mine. So keep an eye out. I feel like everyone should experience a sports massage at least once because it may be for you but then again it may not but that doesn't matter. Experiencing something like this would alleviate you as an individual, to better yourself here and now or to help you in overcoming something later in life.
